I would like to quit smoking!?

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010 | Gain Weight Smoking

But I’m absolutely terrified of gaining weight. I’ve been smoking half to a full pack a day for four years. I’m seventeen, and am recovering from a serious eating disorder — which is really why I’m so scared of the resulting weight gain.

However I really do want to quit. I’m sick of constantly smelling like smoke, having less than blindingly white teeth and basically wheezing for air when I run. Is there any way to at least lessen the amount of weight I will gain? I run six miles daily and eat very healthily.

If that is true then you won’t gain wait. That is the last thing you should be worrying about. Think about your new beginning with quitting smoking. You’ll be a lot happier and more physically healthy. i know it’s tough good luck! :)

It is all will-power. Just be conscious of your eating habits while you quit. I was going to tell you to compensate working out for smoking urges but, it seems you are already working out excessively. 6 miles, really? That sounds a little much to me. I think gaining a lot of weight is kind of an exaggerated lie that comes with quitting smoking. I did not gain any weight when I quit. I feel so much better and what really helped me quit was looking at my family and other people who are older that smoke and how unattractive it makes them. Smoking does horrible things to your looks as you age and I am using that as my motivation.

Look, you are 17 years old, quitting now should not be that difficult. Think about people who quit in their 60′s who have been smoking for 40+ years. If they can do it, you can. I quit smoking at 20 –started at around 14. I had quit before that a number of times and failed. I was able to easily quit when I REALLY wanted to quit for myself and no one else. Once I put 100% effort into and prayed for God to help me quit I promise you it was like nothing at all. I haven’t even had a single urge to smoke( well, occasionally when I have a drink or two :) ).

You can do it, Good Luck
